Engine malfunction indicator

2005 Freelander td4
I'm having problems with M.I.L indication on dash, not all the time but now getting worried that it might be a fuel pump failure on the way!
Are there any things to look out for first?
I've been told about a wiring problem on the fuel pressure sensor! is this all part and parcel of the same fault.

It depends on any other symptoms you have when the lamp shows its face.
