engine cuts out

driving along in my fl1 2003 and the engine light came on and car stopped. put it through an OBD2 scanner and it came up with 'no codes' which i presume is telling me that there is nothing wrong, but the engine won't start! it turns over fine but will not start - any ideas?

Could be anything ... Which engine is it, 1.8l petrol, 2l Rover diesel, 2l BMW, 2.5l V6? Any noises when it stopped, what rpm, speed etc when it stopped, how was it driving previously, anything happen prior to it 'just stopped', any smoke, smells?

Have you done any trouble shooting since?

fl1 td4 2003 2.0 with the bmw engine. there was no warning, just driving along as normal, about 40mph and the light comes on and the engine goes off. just been looking under the bonnet and found what seems to me like part of the in line fuel filter (see pic) completely unnatached. it would make sense that no fuel was getting through, that would not come up as a code, but if this is a fuel line, how can it have no spilt fuel around it? i cannot think why car has been going up until now if this really is a fuel line that has come undone. from what i can see, fuel filter is located behind rear right wheel, but what is this line in the picture? i cannot make sense of it.
