I have just purchased my first Landy, a 1988 90. It has been fitted with a Daihatsu 2.8TD engine from the fourtrack.
I am looking for some advice relating to increasing the allround performance from this engine, it appears that current performance is slightly worse off than a 110 of a friend who has the exact same engine fitted.
Currently, i am returning an mpg of 20, max speed is 65 with a comfortable motorway cruise of 60 (on the flat!)
I seem to be lacking power on pull off, through the gears acceleration would leave me standing against a 2.5n/a engine.
Quoted figures which i have seen reported from my type of setup should give around 30mpg and a top speed of around 85 with a cruise of 70-75.
Is it that i am expecting too much or should i be looking at a potential problem somewhere under the bonnet?

Any advice would be much appreciated.

Matt

Hi.. A friend had a disco which suffered from lack of power and speed. It turned out to be a leaky hose around the turbo unit, resulting in low turbo pressure and low power. It is probably worth checking all the hoses in relation to the turbo/intercooler(if it has one)...

I plan to fit an Isuzu 2,8 in a land rover 90 model. have you heard anything if it is good for it?

thanks
