Emissions bits

Is it possible to do away with this part and pipes and simplify the system,

Sounds like there are some air leaks in that system, so technically its partially removed already. I'd try and seal the system first, IIRC there was a long pipe from near the carb to the oil filler tube which caused me problems once. Failing that, take it off and blank any holes, see how it runs, if all else fails, put it back on, nothing lost.
