Electrical gremlins 300tdi

Hi. I'm new to the site and would be grateful of some advice on my 1998 defender 90 300tdi. I've been having some electrical issues with my landy. It is to do with the front windscreen wipers coming on without selecting them. The wipers come on in the following situations - Whenever I turn the headlamps on the wipers come on and do one swipe. When I put the full beam headlights on the wipers do a swipe of the screen. With the headlights on if I indicate left the wipers come on.
Without the headlamps switched on everything functions as normal and no voluntary swiping.
I've replaced all the stalks/switches on the steering column just to see if this eliminates any gremlins.
Would be really grateful of any guidance or advice.

Many thanks for your posts they are really helpful. I will work through the earth points to sort the gremlins. Might be a few days before i get chance to have a look at them. Will have a go at the introduce yourself section.

Thought I would update.
I've had a go at the electrics. In the end I removed the dashboard. Had a quick look over the loom, re-routes the heater switch cabling. Then thought would try the electrics to see what happened. Tried all the switches to try and get the fault to show but it never did.
Wondering if the loom was rubbing somewhere and when I've moved it the fault has stopped. Wonder if there is a damage wire going through the bulkhead as the grommet does look in great condition.
Thanks for your help. I downloaded the Rave manual which was very helpful.
