I know this is nothing new but I am going to fit the egr blanking plate to my Td5 so I can get one from e bay for under a tenner, but Td5 Alive sell them with another pipe fitting but they are £50 is there any difference, and if I use the e bay gear what happens to the pipework with the valve in it? Does everybody fit anything other than the blanking plate? I am a bit confused.:)

just replace the hose with a new one.

Just had a look at the td5alive site and what they're selling replaces the EGR valve with a straight thru pipe &flange. it's different to the one on the 300tdi so ignore my earlier post.

My TD5 just has the plate fitted at the manifold end, and that made a BIG difference to the OOOmph and to the MPG.

The other bits in the £50 kit enable you to remove the whole EGR system, and bin it.

My TD5 with EGR blanked passed MoT emissions yesterday and the tester said it was the lowest emissions he'd seen for years.

Buy the kit - then bin the whole damned thing.

i have fitted one of these before, came with a blanking plate for the exhaust manifold and a straight through pipe from inlet manifold to intercooler. also came with a small blanking cap for the blue vacume hose to the valve on the EGR.
found it very easy to fit, and as charlesy has said you just take the whole egr job off and bin it.

i have to say i didnt notice much difference at all with perofrmance, and when the blue vacume pipe was blanked off a strange clicking noise appeared from the vacume "thing". The vehicle ws mot'd and passed first time with emmisions well below the benchmark. But i have been informed by someone that a "good " test center would fail it for not having a EGR if it was ment to. ????

go for the TD5Alive wun. They supply a pipe so u can completely remove the EGR valve. The innards of the EGR are a bit of a restriction to the air flow. Removed mine and noticed the difference immediately. just takes a bit longer to warm up from cold.

the pipe fitting is prolly for a thermocouple temp sensor thingy

pipe thingy is for the EGR vacuum actuator. works off vacuum to open the EGR, or vents to atmosphere to close. u gotta disconnect the vacuum pipe at the t-piece that goes to the EGR actuator and then put on the pipe thingy, otherwise every time the ECU tells the EGR to open u will lose your vacuum system.
