The car is a Disco 3 With 2.7 TDV6 and the egr valve is showing a fault so rather than get new EGR valve as i have read that the power down low is increased and the MPG is increased as well. BUT as its a 2008 model the the engine ECU has to be fooled into thinking the EGR is working . Does anyone know what tool i need to do this ,Does the Nanacom do it or the iCar 2 the tool of choice.
Also its recomended that the butterfly valve is removed any one done these mods?
Before anyone gets worried that this will affect the MOT the car is in Australia where there is no MOT only a saftey check when car is sold.

hi

i’ve done mine and also removed the butterfly valve

have got the full details somewhere will try and find them for u

indeed after 2007 u do indeed need the software patch, can be added to the gap iid, sorry can’t help with the other readers

have heard that if u fit blanks with holes drilled in the middle it can stop the light coming on without the need to add the software update , don’t know how true that is though

I have fitted the blanking plate kit and removed the butterfly in the manifold and the results are good there is no smoke on startup or when giving it wellie as there was before. The MIL light can be turned of but reappears after a while.I have not got a software patch but today fitted a resistance on the MAF wiring but im not wholly convinced that it has cured it . after I fitted the blanking plates I have driven it about 750kms and are pleased with the results and i think the MPG is better. Will let you all know how I get on with the resistance fooling the MIL light.
Reads to me like they are talking about the MAP manifold absolute pressure sensor, which on the D3 is in top of the plastic intake manifold Y piece held in with one screw.

Its on the MAF not MAP which is located on the engine side outlet on the Air filter box
