hi there

happy xmas to you all!!

im new to the forum and have been converting my 110 defender to a range rover 3.5v8 (for some time now :)). the v8 was efi but i have conerted it to a carbed version. the issue i am having is that the auto box (zf) kick down - i have the cable etc... but should.nt there be a vacuum piupe from it so that the kickdown can be triggered by the change in inlet pressure? - if there is where should it be? if there is not does anyone know what the best solution for this is? :)

many thanks

Ross

I have a spare 4hp22 box at work, it did have a pipe coming off it but I wondered if it was a breather??

I am not back at work till the first monday in 2010 but I can have a look then.

hi

yes there is a breather off the box - 'u' shaped hooked end... is it possible that it is just the cable that activates the kickdown?

ps - reason for carbs - less wires - lovely sound - less to get wet and go wrong :)

Well if thats a breather for sure then (and like I said I am still learning) the kickdown is controled by the cable when you put your foot down and the up and down shifts for normal driving are controled by the centrifugal govenor in the back of the box!

so it is just the cable that controls the 'kickown' then :) good news i will be messing around with setting this up with the throttle cable linkage - trial and error will most likely be the way forward :)

many thanks for all you help :)
