Good morning all.
Here is my problem: some time ago I had a lambda 2 bank 2 probe code. The probes being original and the car having 245,000 Km (Range l322, v8 of 4.2l SC), I decided to change them all . So change made and some time after the fault code returns, lambda 2 bank 2 probe, low voltage and no activity detected.
Well there I say to myself that maybe the new probe has a problem and when I connect the scanner I see the probe which sends a current shortly after the ignition of the engine and after 2-3 minutes nothing more 0V.
Having kept the old probes I take the old 2 bank 1 probe which was working and put it in place of the new 2 bank 2 probe, and there still the same problem, probe which emits a little at the start then drops to 0V after 2-3 minute walk.
Well there I say to myself, the beam must have taken a hit, so to confirm the bank1 beam being long enough I plug it into the bank 2 probe. Result the probe emits correctly the voltage varies normally, it is around 0.8V, so rich, but normal, the car seeing that low voltages on this probe for some time it enriches the mixture.
Conclusion the beam must have a problem, only analysis of the beam, analysis of the electrical diagrams, the beam is beautiful, not damaged.
To be sure that the beam has a problem I decide to shunt the signal from the probe directly to the ECU, so came out of the cable probe on the signal and the ground which goes directly to the ECU.
The surprise, still the same problem, the ECU tells me that it receives no signal from the probe, see very low voltage (0.05V-0.1V). I take the multimeter and check the voltages on my wires, always surprised, the voltages are good, I see around 0.8V. So normal voltage while on the OBD scanner, the ECU tells me that it receives almost nothing.
Conclusion: the beam is ok, but the ECU is not receiving the correct values from the probe. What should I do ? Is the ECU dead? Can we reset the ECU to see if just a bug on its part?
Anyway, if a person has an idea, I'm interested, really ...
Thank you for reading me after this long message to explain my problem.
