Oh the joy of buying bits off EBay:confused:

Anyways, they don't work. I wasn't holding out much hope, especially when I notice the shaft was slightly thicker and the angle of the worm screw was different.
So a joyous afternoon of taking the wing mirror to pieces again and again and a bit of grinding, sanding and loads of colourful language, it still won't work. The angle of the thread puts to much strain on the motor and cuts it out.

Advertised as fitting BMW, mini, disco and Freelander.

Dont say I didn't warn you.

Hi Mike, would the motor housing fit OK? I hit a peasant the other day and both lugs have snapped of the housing, tried the repair on here but to no avail. Everything else is fine.

Cheers

Simon

I hope you hit a pheasant, running peasants down might be fun but is a tad illegal.:)
Yes the motor housing fitted perfectly, the only part that did.
Mike

Haha bloody autocorrect!

How did you get the motor out of the housing, it looks like the wires have to be removed?

Take the mirror off the car, 3 bolts 2 behind the speaker and 1 behind the door card. Unplug the wires, you'll see them, then disassemble the mirror, put a mark on each bit you remove to line it back up on the motor housing or it won't work right. Take your time it's fiddly. It's all torx screws.
Have fun.
Mike

Thanks Mike, I already had the mirror apart but didn't take the motor out of the housing, if you look at your picture you'll see the wires to the motor go up and around the housing so looks like they need to be removed. Did you remove the motor from the housing?

Also on my car I only had to remove the speaker grille to get the mirror off, there was no bolt behind the door card, maybe it's because I have the Harmon Kardon system?
