Hi all, I'm a Newbie Range rover and visitor to this site with my 1st Range rover problem, checked a few sites on the net but find myself scratching my head, stroking my chin and yearning for someone to guide me through my problem, to any possible solution.
Here goes.
The history...Viewed a'98 2.5 DHSE RR last week, took it for a ride, checked the gears, any signs of leaks, made sure all the ride settings worked OK, which they did, checked the sevice manual all OK. Then bought it.
Got the missus and kids together, straight up the mountain for some exploratory off roading in the rain and mud:D
Got a puncture on a peice of burnt out car hidden in the grass:mad: Changed the wheel, got home everything still working OK. Parked outside the house, on a hill with the drivers side lower than the passangers (in case this is relevant)
Next day started her up and noticed the light indicating "access height" was staying lit and the "normal height" light stayed flashing. Drove a few miles and this problem righted itself -"normal height" light on.
Same thing happened next time I started the machine, only this time the problem didnt right itself but beeped a threw up the "EAS Fault" with the xmas tree of lights 'n' all that. This I now understand to be a bad thing.
She is now sitting on her bump stops and refuses to rise. I've tried linking pins 1 + 8 on the EAS brain connector, get a "click" from the compressor area- like a relay clicking sound but no pumping, however, when I bypass relay#20 in the relay/fuse box the compressor works fine.
ANY suggestions of where to start diagnosing the cause of the problem would be greatly appreciated, I understand this is a common fault so am off back to the internet to trawl the stuff Google comes up with on the issue, though my inexperience is hindering my filtering of the "wheat from the chaff" sort of thing. Cheers, RhonddaRanger.

Hey, sorry to hear you've had a problem so early on. Then again, it is a P38, so you can't expect any more really... :D

It might be one of the ride height sensors (one for each wheel). They really don't like getting wet, and since you said you were driving up a mountain in mud and rain, it could have gotten very wet. This could cause the problem you are describing.

Cheers both for your replies, got the compressor running from the eas block now-wasnt counting the pins right (DOH). Will check the ride height sensors 2day, and work my way back from them. Oh the fun of it all.
