Put car back on EAS this morning as I bought used compressor yesterday. Appeared to run properly then, on a "celebratory" run, of its own volition, car raises up from "normal" to high. I selected "normal" and it corrected itself, only to raise up again after a few minutes. Earlier, it had gone correctly to "motorway" setting, then back to "normal" upon slowing down.
Don't want to risk burning out the (new to me) compressor, so ADVICE very much welcomed. Had contemplated getting car running on normal, then disconnecting compressor, but much rather sort it out properly.
Thanks for reading that little lot...I need to go lie down now

Check white plug and socket behind trim panel at base of passenger A post. Check for verdigris and wetness. That is the interface from height selector switch to ECU. Shorts in that will cause your problem.

As above, plus it's best to cut the connectors out (one wire at a time) and make soldered joints sleeved with heatshrink

Thanks for the nugget of info.

Thanks for the nugget of information. Just been out for another run and it seems to have settled down with no further misbehaving. As a preventative measure, I'll follow up on your suggestion too. All the best and thanks again!

Thanks for the kind words. Twelve people out of work, lost all my equity in the house then, after 35yrs marriage, the love of my life said, (via our younger daughter), that she wanted a divorce... Sh1t happens!
Keep going mate at least you still have your Range Rover. Loyal but not reliable :)
Keep your chin up :)

Haha...keeping going after a fashion.
Hopefully the P38 has enjoyed the 17 months rest and has a new lease on life now for another 19yrs!
All the best!
It will be fine mate, they just need to be regularly maintained and pampered. I love my P38s still luxury driving even though its over 20 years old. Hope things get better for you mate and stay positive. Come on here and have some banter if you get fed up, always works for me :)

All good mate thanks. Lost business 2011, divorce 2013 and, now 66 have the rest of my life to look forward to. Converting a 116' long, 17'6" barge for wheelchair users and their carers to use for short respite breaks aboard. Bought P38 in Jan 2015 but parked her up 17mths ago. Great to have her back on the road. Hoping the replacement blender motor I'm intending to fit tomorrow will restore heat to driver's side.
To infinity and beyond...haha!

Join the forum( rangerovers.net ) and then ask a question.
The Turd of Turd Hall blokey (Admin) will tell you off and send you chastened with your tail between your legs to read "RAVE" and stop asking puerile questions without doing your research...
That's my rather jaundiced view anyway...

'swhy I' m here. Was also on the American forum, but dislike the way the Turd of Turd Hall Blokey talks down at guys looking for interactive advice....
You know who I mean
that would never happen here, we are all nice chaps, and ever swap Christmas gifts and cards each year.
