A brand new member here, although I have got several tips as a guest; now I have a query.
With the advent of the [new & improved?] E10 fuel in the UK, I question compatibility driving a venerable [2001] Freelander 1 with a 2.5 KV6 petrol. Now I have no wish to damage my engine so can I use the diluted, overpriced E10 or is it safer to seek out the E5; which is rarer and interestingly the overpriced 'high octane' "super" version.
What recommendations are there from the forum ?

The KV6 engine was used in the US spec FL1, which have had to use high % E fuels for years, so it should be ok on E10.

This is what is says on the Govt website :-

Land Rover

E10 petrol is cleared for use in all Land Rover vehicles with petrol engines starting from model year 1996.Older vehicles should continue to use E5.

Check it out for yourself if you wish, go on the official Gov.uk site, put E10 in the search bar then fill in the details as prompted & it will give you the statement as above.
Generally vehicles with petrol injection are ok, if it has a carburettor, stick with E5.
Legally I’m no expert so to cover myself, the ultimate decision is yours.

But enjoy the sound of that V6. ( I have a petrol Merc ML350 V6 as well as a 1.8 FL1, - I wish the FL1 felt as solid & sounded like the Merc, I just wouldn’t rest easy with the engine in a KV6.)

Sorry but a cynical voice in the back of my mind says" Well Land Rover would say that wouldn't they" if your Landy falls apart then it's logical you will be in the market for a new one. Equally another voice says "well HMG would say that wouldn't they" if your car falls apart then you will 'Have' to buy a hybrid which is in line with their policy on climate change and universal electrification
Upon reflection and having just paid £1.41 per ltr for E10 I am left thinking "Follow the Money" "Who profits" cos it's not Landy owners

E10 is fine, a FL1 will run quite happily on E85 if it needed to. ;)
