Ok, i have been bought a dumo valve kit for my 300tdi. It requires wiring to the throttle position sensor according to the very poor instructions. I dont seem to have one. My 300tdi is from a disco, fitted by a prev owner so not sure on age, but i reckon about 94. It has had the egr removed too, again by a prev owner.
I know there is little or nothing to gain from a power point of view but this is for fun so please no p!ss taking!
Can anyone help with fitting?

You got a reply in the other thread, now I suspect your on a wind up,but the dump valve on a diesel is a waste of time and you won't find the connection as it is mechanically controlled

no wind up, i have had it purchased as a present (surprise). there is no definitive information that it will ruin any motor, and many tractors have them fitted, and there are more fitted to vans, and other vehicles.

anyway - i asked for no **** taking, only assistance.... :):nospamhere:

can anyone direct me to a solution? i have thought of getting a roller switch that will activate the solenoid when the throttle is off...

How can anyone help you do something that no-one except an imbecile would consider fitting? I suggest that no one has done it for that exact reason:doh:.

I suspect that one day he might live to regret that comment....

+1

If ever a problem solving bridge is needed by Steve from the ever knowledgeable Mad Hat Man in the future, I suspect it will look something like this:

Rofl..

The reason no one will help you fit a dump valve to to your 300tdi is a simple one.

On a petrol they have a butterfly valve that controls the flow of air into the manifold. If you are on full boost and suddenly shut this valve, without a dump valve/waste gate, the butterfly will be destroyed fairly quickly.

On a diesel we have no air flow restriction or regulation, the air being sucked in is in proportion to rpm and any Turbo that is in effect. When you are on full boost and suddenly come off the throttle, all that happens is you go back to idle speed amount of diesel being injected. The manifold, valves and all other components do not suffer from the no throttle boost pressure, therefore they're pointless in this application.

You could if you really fancied it, put a whistle up ur exhaust or some mod to ur current waste gate to make it sound better. But what u are holding will serve no purpose at all to you.

if there was ever a need for me to contact anyone for assistance it would not be someone who called me an imbecile without knowing anything about me. i joined this forum with a genuine question and so far have had nothing but **** taking and abuse. I have owned and worked on Land Rovers for over 20 years and have never needed the assistance of anyone before. Why would i worry about upsetting someone who is obviously so far up his own arse that he could clean the back of his teeth?
I know how a turbo works, and what a dump valve is for, i was purchased it as a present from a family member and as it does no harm then there is no foul if i fit it.
get over yourselves and thanks for nothing.

Well done for knowing how one works and for having such long experience. If ur knowledge is so great you would know both the 300 and 200 engines already have a boost management system and that an after market dump valve would serve no purpose.

Bolt it to something in the engine bay, give them many thanks then keep it in a glass display box as a memento.

if you read my post i stated i know it does nothing. it is a fancy. i am sure you have fitted things to yours that are of no real use. i know enough to be dangerous, not enough to open a garage. how dare i enter your exclusive world and offend you all with such a trivial and obviously stupid question.
anyway. it is my choice, my landy, and my world will be better for not asking questions again from those who dont want to help. why have a forum where all you do is take the p***? for all you know i could have been a young lad with his first land rover entering into the "club" thinking it was a bit of fun, only to get shot down in his first forum thread.
as it is i am not, and although annoyed at the small mindedness of the majority of the group i am not going to dwell on it.
live well.
