Using sports mode when towing is not a very good idea. The drone may not be from the gearbox.

Mabee but when going up a long hill ,sports mode keeps it in 4th no lockup no drone at 55 or so ,on the flat back into normal drive ,sport off 55 60 mph all is quiet. SHE pull any thing once its rolling never struggles unless an idiot is doing 25mph and you loose the revs. But thats off topic .That Dr tranny is meant to stop drone ,but does it,,,, Your right warrmer could be torque converter or flexy but is done this for 7 years now, sounds like the star ship enterprise when accelerating .;)

Silly question time but instead of sports mode to keep it in 4th , why not just use the 'command shift' option? Sport mode is fine for a little extra revs before gear change, when needed, but I wouldn't have thought it's good on a long uphill push.

There are 1,2 and 3 positions available on the selector for lower speeds. Like a few others this additive is designed to prevent plate slip. If your lockup clutch has been slipping for seven years it would be well knacked by now and there will be very little that can correct that other than a new torque converter. If it makes a noise on acceleration whilst not locked up it is unlikely to be the lockup clutch. More likely converter bearings.

Sport mode makes the box change down sooner and up later. Driven normally car should be in top gear around 30-35 MPH. Torque lock should occur at around 46-50 MPH in top gear. Towing in sport mode will stress the box.

The gear box just gurns in lockup under load at 53ish mph ,no noise in any gear ,just groans like a manual in two high a gear .Pushing the button drops like a half gear and she flys no prob fixed a 2500rpm.Tell you another one at 42ish mph push sport button wi no load on the flat the gear box locks up and revs drop to 14,1500 rpm put sports off{ over drive for want of a better name} drop out and we are back at 2000 rpm or so in 4th.Still might try Dr tranny and report back.good or bad never know till ye try:rolleyes:
