After recently getting my cam chains and tentioner replaced I'v had nothing but problems with my RR !!
No power and no mpg, it's been back to the "Land Rover Specialist" 4 times with no joy .. First he said it had two injector fault codes and an under boosting turbo code..
Before he touched it there were only the egr valve codes. It has been back 3 times .. first he blanked the egr's 1 week and +2mpg later he wanted it back.. then he said he wanted to put a new turbo actuator on ! £1000 later just as bad but now no fault code for the turbo !!!!
I unplugged the mass air flow sensor and it's mpg is creeping up but still underpowered .. "Please Help"

Errr......Hello!

Helps to know model and year, type of engine.....etc...

You mention 'Turbo' so I assume diesel.....pity Range Rovers had I think 7 different Diesel Engines....would help to know which we are talking about!

Your magic ball broken then Saint ;)

Sorry I'm new
2005 2.7 TDV6 Sport

I thought the 2.7 TDV6 was timing belt?

Regardless, if it was fine before you had the work done then you shouldn't be paying to have this 'new' power issue remedied, at least not by the offending garage who messed up.

Sorry, there are cam chains.

Exhaust cam is belt driven in the normal fashion, inlet cam is chain driven via the rear of exhaust cam.

Roughly 10 minutes into vid.

He's just had it for 3 weeks and gave it back on friday ..no difference after a new turbo that he said was the problem !!
He did give me a car to use !
He wanted me to drive over the weekend and see if the new turbo loosens up !!!!
Not charged anything yet but at best I'm only paying for fitting the new turbo that I supplied !

I'm not up on the legal aspects, but I'd be seriously considering having another garage look at it to assess what's wrong........and ideally fix what's been done wrong.
I'd then hand deliver the bill from that garage to outfit that messed up.

A one second rattle on start up would not have been chains they would rattle all the time, lifter yes, sounds like the (specialist ) has not got a clue,
I would not trust then to fix it, do as mentioned above.

Thanks for all your replys ..
I'm not taking it back monday !
I'm taking it to an individual who is and has been working on All Land Rovers for the past 25 years ..
Not to the independent Land Rover Specialist in Preston...

Hi

Plus 1 what the others have said

May I just put my two cents in, lol

Indeed they are timing belts , inc the rear fuel pump one

U can’t change the turbo actuator without the turbo having to coming off and be set up correctly by a specialist

Plse tell me he’s replaced the oil pump cover at the same time

As the others have said get it to a specialist , otherwise if he’s done something really wrong say goodnight to the engine , 5k to replace

When the egrs were blanked the MAP sensor in the throttle body needs cleaning , plus hope he’s removed the butterfly flap from the throttle housing and put the butterfly pin back

Agree he sounds like someone who hasn’t got a clue

Plse let us know how u get on

This engine needs to go back to basics - everything there and occuring at exactly the right time.

From that move forward - it's an utter waste of time if a cam is a tooth out for example.

Probably best if a professional does it, though.

Big hint there although you have said the car is now going to another guy. Make sure you get a full written report of the engines condition (and cost of rectification) - you may have to rely upon it at a later date in a court of law.

Wish you the best, keep us posted.
