Hi all,
Sorry title is supposed to be locking not looking..
New here, need help, my disco 2 2001 developed a new problem today, it won’t lock, just beebs, I checked all doors bonnet, the interior light is on as though there is a door ajar but there is not.
Thank you

The beep is a normal indication of a "mis-lock"; the usual reason for that is the switch under the bonnet, but seeing as you have the interior courtesy light staying on that would point to one of the doors to the vehicle.
Unfortunately, on the Disco 2 the "switchery" for the central locking, the courtesy lights and the alarm are contained within the door latch assemblies so I would advise that you carefully recheck that all the doors, including the rear tailgate are securely closed. After that it's going to be a case of trying to find which door is at fault. That might be by "trial and error" although I'm not sure whether a compatible code reader could provide the information regarding which doors are open.

The problem is that except the driver's door all the doors(tailgate included) are on the same circuit with common input to the BCU so the only way to rule out an issue provided it's not the driver's door or bonnet swicth) is to remove the door cards and unplug the actuators one by one and lock untill the misslock stops, maybe you are lucky to unplug first the bad one :)... the door open input is generated by door switch closed to earth that's why it's so hard to diagnose cos if one is closed no matter which one closes again on that circuit, a tester would see only the driver's door, the bonnet switch and passenger's + tail doors all together

to rule out the driver's door let the window down, lock with key as to disable the volumetric alarm and open the door from the inside handle...if the alarm goes off it means the driver's door is OK

...and pray to not be a wiring or BCU issue
