door mechanism

hi there, having abit of trouble with the opening mechanism on passenger door.
it opens and unlocks perfectly from the outside, (unlocking is a little stiff tho, i keep plastering it in WD tho!) but the handle on the inside just wont work, sometimes it does if you mess with it and the lock 'button' thingy, do i need a whole new mechanism or could i get individual parts? i cant even find anywhere that sells the complete mechanism!

i havnt seen a good working one, iv only seen mine. i had the door card an had a poke around, it did seem that there was alot of play. not really sure where the play is tho.. there is loads in the lock 'button' but none in the indoor handle.

Wip the door card off and watch the mechanism when you pull the inside handle. If the rods are slightly bent they will not work properly.

ahhh i think it was bent.. i thought thats how it was supposed to be! il get it off and try and get some pics at the weekend. hopefuly it will be just a case of bending it abit!

The M reg 90 300 tdi I was working on the other day had exactly the same problem the solution was to clean and lube the part of the mechanism where the lock, inside and outside levers/rods come together. When you take off the door card to get at the problem you will probably break the little pins that hold the door card in place so get a handful before you start, they are cheap and easy to replace.
