Not sure if that is what they are called, but I'm calling them that

The bit that makes the doors lock or unlock when you use the fob, or key in drivers door. (passanger front specifically)

Are they coded to the fob, or can they be replica by one from a breakers.

Need to change mine as it wont unlock the doors (locks okay) Just worried that they were encoded in some way .

thanks in advance.

As far as I know they are “dumb” so they are interchangeable. Wait for a second opinion though:)

First I would ask have you checked door wiring/connectors before giving yourself work?;)

Do the doors unlock after the fob is pressed twice?
The standard unlock routine is a single press unlocks the drivers door. A second press unlocks all the other doors.

Be the same work to get at the damn thing , as just replace it. going to breakers anyway to pick up a few other bits and bobs, so for a few quid, might as well pick up a lock actuator (waiting for someone to correct the newbie description )

Actuators are not coded and not repairable. I have repaired many things but these are a no no. Also, trouble of getting at them makes it easier to change. I'd go for new saves another early fail.
