You wish you hadn't started........????

Under the Disco today lining up the transfer box for installation, I've had quite a few oil leaks near the back of the engine so I thought I'd clean them off and make it nice & clean for later on when I put everything back together. Just shone the torch up towards the rear of the engine and saw a rusty coloured water mark going down the rear, traced it back & its coming from the core plug on the left bank of the cylinder head :mad::mad: So now gonna have to add cylinder head removal & re-build to the list :rolleyes::rolleyes:

Yep..... fixing sunroof leaks.. "seal" between frame and body failed.... removed frame, dislodged the drain corners.... fixed one leak and created another 2 ..... not as big a job as yours though......

Ebay K-seal 10 quid decent **** and doesnt block up heater pipes etc as the haters/idiots claim, works well and Ive personally used it in a few vehicles and we use it in the trucks at work, radiator 500 quid or 20 quid for k-seal?

Kept my leaky series 2 rad going for well over 2 years and that was proper peeing out, vw owner no money to replace rad, 10 quid k-seal and 8 years later when it got scrapped it was still watertight.

I really want to do the job properly, so its gonna be a heads off & new core plugs in
Now thinking ahead, will I really need to have the heads skimmed before they are re-installed??? Initially I was not gonna remove the heads as when I did a compression test a while ago the reads across the board were between 168-177psi. So question is is it a necessity to get them skimmed OR can I clean em up and put them back as they are???

you only skim heads if absolutely necessary
