Hi all,

am restoring our 90. the doors are terrible. in the future we want to fit a softtop. So, i wonder, do series doors (in two halfs, also seen on 110 tithonus) fit a 90 with not to much adjustements?
apart from the fact that we like these better, they are much cheaper also.

There are two types of Series 3 doors, early doors and later ones that are designed for ANTI-BURST LOCKS, you can identfy these as they have a separate hole for the key.
Both will fit, but you need ANTI-BURST LOCKS to retain the same level of safety as TD5 doors.
You will also have to factor in replacement door locks and striker plate as the TD5 ones won't fit.
You have a choice of door tops, Series 3 type or later military tops. The military tops are much better than the Series 3 tops but will be expensive, Series 3 door tops rust faster than TD5 door bottoms, but are comparitively cheap.
A further consideration is that the sliding windows in the Series 3 and military door tops can be a pain, especially in hot weather and when you try and stick your head out when reversing in a tight space, you can ofcourse remove the door tops if the weather is really nice.
It is also worth checking that your rear tub has the rope cleates (hooks) for a soft top, not all of them do.

If you are fitting Series 2-piece doors, get the galvanised steel versions, and hen give them a good few coats of paint.
The elecrolysis causing the door frames to rot will not take place as the materials are all steel, and not of cathodic aluminium mounted on the anodic steeel frames, which causes excessive oxydisation of the steel (rust!)
