Hi,

I'll take on a lot of stuff on the Disco ( I've done cylinder heads ets on other cars ) but I need new disc's on the rear and as its stripping the hub etc I'm going to pay ti get it done...any Idea how much it should cost ( its a local trained mechanic who's doing it privately for cash...cheers

It really isn't that difficult to do yourself, I tackled mine for the first time a while ago and was surprised how easy it was, and if you get stuck just make sure you've got your laptop handy to ask for help on here:D:D

Get a Haynes manual and do it yourself. Not a difficult job.

I have hardly done any work on cars for years, but I'm about to tackle doing the discs and pads all round on my Disco. I've got a Haynes but there is also a good "How To" for changing bearings which gives all the info you need HERE

I've rediscovered the "fun" in trying to fix it up myself, maybe you will.

rear brake discs are easy, just follow the details in the RAVE manual and make sure you've got a BIG hammer for removing the old discs from the drive hub. that being the only really difficult bit - and that's only because the hubs and the discs seem to rust together.

Yeah same here, it's an easy job!

Of course you have to allow for seized bolts etc, but if it's all good it's about an hour, hour and a half.

Great opportunity to learn about setting the bearings, which you will probably do quite often...

Cheers, sam
