Hi, I really hope someone can help.
I have a 1999 3.9 Doscovery 1 which has a Gas conversion. it runs fine on gas but it's on the petrol that the problem occurs.
It starts and revs fine but when you pull away after just a few yards it dies very suddenly, it's as if someones turned the petrol off, it will rev fine even in gear with the clutch in and if you quickly dip the clutch you can save it from cutting wghen the problem occurs. I can't get more than a few yards from home it's driving me mad.
Any suggetsions??
Many thanks.

Thanks Nathan, but why can I rev the engine fine when stationary? Would a dodgy fuel pump not stop me from doing that?

Cos it needs more fuel to drive?

Exactly, revving it stationary isnt putting it under any load. Its like asking you to run on the spot and then to run uphill with a 50kg sack on your back ;):)

You need to check the whole fuel system out could be a dying pump, knackered FPR or even a heavily blocked filter. If you havent changed the filter recently I would do that anyway :)

hi id try a fuel pressure test before id did anything. also would get it on a diagnostic machine to check for any faults
