Other discovery versus hippo

well guys i'm mightily impressed with the disco

know wonder u guys like them ,

had it offroad on a little track in biggin hill today for a little play and took my dogs along for the ride

i couldn't see it before, but after today was able to compare the hippo and my disco

wished i had bought one years ago, also can see why u call the hippo a soft off roader

went through the terrain system , it didn't blink an eye , drove through what ever i out before it

didn't realise like an idiot i don't have to spin my wheels in order to gain traction , know i didn't even scratch the surface in what they are truly capable of

but wouldnt go on anything more challenging on my own , would always go with others in case i got into trouble

wished to take my hat off to the disco gang and has opened my eyes real fast

even the dogs enjoyed being able to stretch out in plenty of room , no doors falling off , lol

in conclusion i can't compare them , as they are that far apart

nice one landy rover , one very happy new disco owner

ps , haven't out this here to wind anyone up, but can just see now how truly remarkable these are

The only thing I miss is that the rear window can't go down! I loved that in the hippo!

I do quite a bit off roading and I am seriously impressed with the capabilities of the D2.
only need to be pulled out only once up till now, I will be trying to get stuck again tomorrow as we will be out with a few

that was good , with the window going down , done that if i couldn't get timber in the hippo

don't know why but the discos seem to be a more positive car, feeling more confident , if that makes sense

can just see now why the discos are so popular especially when u see them off road

and it has its own TV channel

hippo has its own channel too

Havng also had both, and living in the 'depths of the Auvergne’ at 1130m altitude where I get to use our vehicles in a practical context, I can write in complete confidence that Freelander is by far the better car in the snow. Adding to that, whilst it is very capable off-road vehicle,it comes second place to any Discovery whn it comes to 'real' off-roadong.

dont get me wromg i had the hippo for 7 x years and was pleased with it , however now owning the D3 and its capabilities it's outstanding of the difference ,

now able with owning both of them in being able to compare them both , can see now why they call the hippo a soft off roader and has its restrictions

driving the disco it feels different , also having that extra height , suspension that can be raised , better articulation , also not having to spin the wheels in order to gain traction

is good now being able to make a comparison between the two landies

Yer should have gone to a Freelander 2 if yer wanted the rear diff to join the fun electrically rather than when the vcu activated. Oh well. Never mind. At least yer'll get to use yer welder now.

see, after all this time there now happy to get rid of me
