not sure if i'm honest, can't see it :p:D

did think long and hard before changing models , had the hippo 7 x years , so gave it a good run

can honestly say the D3 is considerably nicer than my hippo , best thing i ever did

when i went to the last lz meet in the hippo , off road it really showed the weaknesses , mainly grounding , also not having the low ratio box which would have been useful on some of the terrain

is whisper quiet down the motorway , more comfortable

they are miles apart in there capabilities , don't get me wrong the hippo was nice but only as a soft off roader

maybe other disco owners can also answer in what there opinions are of the freelander compared to the discovery

I've not owned or driven a Hippo, I came to the Disco down the route from the Series 3 which we had when I worked for the Home Office. I would say that the Freelander, especially the FL1 was an "entry level" Land Rover. Its effect worked on you Gary, exactly as the LR PR department designed it, it just took a bit longer.
The FL2 is possibly aimed at a different market, now more financially orientated.
