Hi I’ve got a 2012 discovery 4 hse. I’ve had it 8 months and the sunroof has decided to leak it is leaking onto the headliner as well so I’m going to replace the drain tube just looking for hints and tips on removing the headliner enough to get at all the areas I need to get at

Basically you need to remove all the trims that hold the headlining in place, so A,B,C,D and E pillar covers.
All the lights and anything else need to come out too. Not difficult, but you'll need a helper, as the lining is unwieldy and easily damaged.
Also be careful around curtain airbags.

I would start wth the basics first, are the drain tubes blocked? if so and the water then has nowhere to go?
With roof open you can poke your head though the hole and squint into the corners to see the very small holes that lead to the drain tubes.

Could be the case of a few minutes work rather than one of them jobs that can easily turn into a saga.

Plus 1 what’s already been mentioned , including removing the battery connections beforehand because as quoted regarding the airbags

If u do decide to remove / drop the headliner , I found using some of the disposable gloves very handy and changing them regularly as getting any marks on the headlining can be a nightmare if not impossible to remove

hope that also helps a little

ur so right with it being unwieldy as when I replaced some of my curtain airbags i done it on my own and wouldn’t fancy doing it again , was a right pain trying to not damage / mark it
