hey all still havin a few probs with 300tdi disco i think that i need another turbo as now she is smoking a white/grey when cold 1st start of the day this clears after about a mile but it is excessive, still pulls well and seems to be running fine i took it to liveridge 4x4 yesterday and a mechanik took a look and said it sounds fine and runs well however it was up to temp by the time i had got it there,it isnt overheating and pulls very well but when cold it sounds a little lumpy and smokes i have also noticed that it is dripping oil out of the flexi part on the exhaust i have had a lamp in there and everything under the bonnet looks dry and there isnt really anyhting directly above the flexi part of exhaust what could be causing this any suggestions would be very much welcomed as i have no idea what this could be its as if its already in the exhaust and leaking through the flexi part is that possibe ?????? thanks all.

hey thanks for reply ive done that it does seem to have excessive play maybe 4mm? i can move it quite a bit ...could this cause oil to get into the exhaust tho??? cheers for advice

i would of said that the turbo bearing is shot thats a bit to much movement , theres a feed pipe feeding the turbo from the sump to keep the turbo cool , eventuntaly the engine will use all the oil up and shag the rest of the engine up , best get it changed as soon as .........

hi thanks for the reply really gratefull i thought it could be the turbo cos of the grey / white smoke when cold i just couldnt understand how it could pass oil through to the exhaust ? , thanks for the advice

if your renewing the turbo yourself becareful of the cooler pipe from the sump its a right bugger to remove and break just a word of warning
