My aircon/climate just doesnt get cold on my disco 3, I've had it connected to the aircon machine and shows 96% so not low or out of refrigerant, everything seems to be working ok otherwise, clutch etc to engage.
Anyone had similar before I have to book it in and bend over?

It's a 2006 SE, low miles, really well looked after and serviced, pollen filter changed recently, fuses all look ok, it's run all year on auto to demist etc.

Oh, if it's been used and even on lowest setting I have no water? Under the vehicle when I stop like on most other cars I've ever owned?

Where did you get the 96% from?
AC systems are meant to be recharged / serviced yearly. I would get it put on a proper AC machine get it to vacuum the system, pressure test then re-fill etc.
You could also check condensor is not clogged up with mud, also locate A.C drain.pipe to ensure that isnt blocked up.

for what its worth on this I tried a DIY Halfords kit for doing this and it just didn't work... So I got a garage to do it and a year later its still running perfectly. Getting it done for 40 or 50 quid will not only vacuum the system but also tell you if there are leaks.

Perhaps it's as simple as one of the blending servos not working, but the only way to find out is by plugging into the diagnostic kit ... Did u really expect it to be DIY :)

No not on this model : ( nobody seems to like working on it either and if they do it costs a fortune.

It was somebody I know who has an aircon re-gas machine, don't know if it measured the refridgerant content or whether I was being fobbed off because he didn't want to do it.
I'll get a proper re-gas then go from there but it does have refridgerant and the pipes are cold in the engine bay when on.
just not cold in the cabin.

That would be my first port of call before anything else, you can usually get it done for only £40-£50. Like I say, (although people don't!) it should be done yearly. Yours could be well overdue and may not have even had a re-gas since leaving the factory in '06!

One of the pipes under the bonnet should get hot, the other very cold.

AC in cars does not have a specific service interval, perhaps your thinking of AC installed in buildings , although our split units in my firms office have been ok and haven't seen a service engineer in the last four years.

My discos is still ok and running on the refrigerant install in the factory, the Honda company cars we have don't have a service on the AC other than the pollen filter is changed at their annual service.

If the vehicles AC system is loosing the refrigerant, not cooling or even heating correctly then there's a problem other than that leave alone.:)

OK, but it's good practice to get it serviced to ensure it's running at it's maximum efficiency.
Not necessarily, the pipes and connections in the AC system naturally slightly porous so you can loose a small amount of gas overtime :)

Yeah if it works leave it alone, one of the vehicles at work we've had from new, now 13 years old and aircon works perfectly well and never been touched.
Will update when I get my discovery looked at.
