Hello to all

I am having issues with a discovery 2 locking system, T reg 1998 TD5

After looking through google search and reading many threads and forums I have to ask for help, usually the answer is there and I can crack on but no joy :(

When locking with fob, A beep from OS rear will happen and will not lock.

I have tried A new battery, Bonnet switch and remote sensor,

All doors lock from button in cab and the fob will unlock on press 1 and 2 to unlock all doors,

Is there somthing I have over looked or missed?

Any help will be greatly appreciated

Thanks for your time, Ian

+1^^^ and as no door locks on the fob command it means the driver's door switch or it's circuit is the problem as it's the main part of the central door locking circuit...the switch is integral part of the latch assy

when you lock with fob(regardless of the fact that the doors dont lock) do the red alarm LED react on the lock command?(IMO it must as the receiver gets the signal, that's why you get the misslock warning) ...if yes, lock the driver's door with key then open the door while the alarm is armed...if the alarm will not go off it's certain that the problem is there...the switch is the most common but the wiring might have some interruption too...but for that you must have some basic electricity knowledge to make continuity tests on the circuit.

Hmmmmmmm
i think you know that super locking is part of the central locking ...there can't be super lock if the doors are not locked, BUT doors can be locked without being superlocked...that's how it is...so:
Partial arming
Partial arming allows protection of as much of the vehicle as possible if the alarm is armed with one or more doors or
the bonnet open.
Partial arming allows the vehicle alarm to be armed even if the following conditions exist. When the bonnet or door is
closed, the BCU activates the perimetric alarm and the volumetric alarm after 15 seconds have elapsed:
1. The bonnet is not closed: If the bonnet is open when the alarm is armed, the BCU activates super locking and
volumetric sensing. In this condition, the alarm enters a partially armed state. All other functions of the alarm are
active and the BCU monitors the bonnet for a change of state. If the bonnet closes, the system is completely
armed.
2. The passenger door, a rear door or the tail door is not closed: If a door is open when the alarm is armed, the BCU
does not activate super locking
or volumetric sensing. In this condition the alarm enters a partially armed state.
All other alarm functions are armed and the BCU monitors the open door. If the door closes volumetric sensing
and super locking become active.
l Failure of a door latch switch: If a short circuit in the door latch switch occurs, the BCU presumes the door is not
closed. In this situation the BCU does not activate super locking or volumetric sensing. All other alarm functions
are armed.
l Damaged wiring harness: If a short circuit in the wiring harness for the door latch switch occurs, the BCU
presumes the door is not closed and does not activate super locking or volumetric sensing; all other alarm
functions are armed. If an open circuit in the wiring harness for the door latch switch occurs, the BCU presumes
the door is closed and arms the alarm as normal.

they dont say nothing about the case when THE DRIVER'S DOOR is not closed(or the switch circuit is open)... but i tell you for sure that then no door will lock as the central locking circuit closes for the BCU through the driver's door switch

I had the same problem. In my Disco 2. 2002. The dealer I bought it from sent me to an auto electrician with LR experience. Traced to a broken wire on the NS passenger front door.
Took the guy abut an hour to find and fix.
Maybe this will help.
