Hi all, I have recently converted my 4.6 v8 to om606 Mercedes engine. The problems I’m having are trying to get the traction control and hill decent lights to extinguish and to get the systems to work. I have the old engine ECU fitted and a emulator box fitted converting the alternator signal on the W terminal to the correct wave that the ecu will recognise and therefore realise it’s running. Before I fitted the box I had no warninglights as I believe the vehicle didn’t know it was running. I am told that the systems will still work even if the vehicle doesn’t know it’s running. However I would to have it allworking as it should. Can anyone shed anylight on any more inputs the engine ecuneeds to allow these to work? Or how I can trick the system so it all works? Thanks inadvance for the help.

Nice mechanical job but for the ABS systems you have to be a extremely skilled electronist to make it work

The problem is that the SLABS ECU expects the following input on pin 10: Engine data (throttle position, torque, engine type, gearbox type) which is delivered by the original ECU from a working engine based on ALL sensor inputs so the crank sensor input which you emulated is not enough, the original ECU is on a default from the missing inputs and the "engine data" sent to the SLABS is corrupted hence those two wanring lights which are specific for this fault.

3'rd line in the list

Is that the pwm signal from pin 37 on the engine ecu? I have a TPS I have rigged up. I wonder if I wired the Maf back in as that would give the ecu an idea of torque produced

I'm not too good with V8s, if it was a Td5 i could have helped more, if the TPS signal is OK and in conjunction with the rpm the TC activity might be restored but the warning lamps will not be off as long as the SLABS ECU is detecting the data as ''corrupted'' and i have no ideea how the torque is calculated in the Bosch Motronic ECUs but i doubt that only the MAF is involved. The engine data PWM signal is sent from ECM C0636 pin 29 to SLABS C0504 pin 10... let me know how you get on cos this is interesting

I’ve given up for now. I tried adding a maf and the computer still said minimum maf value not met. My guess is that the 3.0 diesel doesn’t move as much air as the old v8 did. So do we know any means of extinguishing the TC and HDC lights? I’ve de pinned the wires that are in the rave manual and they are still on. I also tried earthing them to no avail. Any help greatly appreciated

Unpinning the wires won't help as an open circuit must bring them on if the system was OK. So do you say you just want to turn off the warnings to not see them without eliminating the reason? ...if that's what you want they can be disabled with nanocom or splice in with 12V ignition live in theyr's circuits

Just if you give feed to the warning lamps to extinguish them cut the wires which are coming from the SLABS ECU to not backfeed it on those circuits

Amazing stuff!!
Sorry, don't have any suggestions on how to get your electronics working as they should, just here for the pictures:D

I somehow missed this when it was originally posted.....
how did you get along with finding a lasting solution?
how does it drive?

I also interested in updates as I am planning an om603 or vw tdi swap in my little ladies 99 disco 2

Alternative conversion specialists have a converter box they sell to help feed the bcu/ecu the info it needs to run the abs/traction control via an ls conversion but may be able to be used with other engines.

I'd love to bounce ideas with someone further along into the swap that I am.

Are you using compushift or ashcroft for the transmission controller?

That is an amazing job.
I think I am more impressed you seem to have found a rust free W210!
