Hello all, my name is Shayne and I have had a few land rovers over the years. All been bomb proof and done me well. I now own a 1998 300 tdi which has been heavily modified in the past.
I have spent a while looking on here but nothing seems to answer this question fully.

I noticed oil leaking from both rear hubs and got this fixed last month by a "proper" garage. I've just went to take my wee boy home and found one of the hubs was leaking again.
Can I get rid of oil in the rear axle and transfer box and replace with grease or not? All help and abuse greatly received.

Bomb proof landy? Do they exist?

Well first of all, if it's leaking, it's a good sign, it means it has oil in.
Secondly no. You can't put grease in.
Take it to a different "proper" garage and get them to do it correctly. Or do it yourself. No a difficult task with mere simpleton tools

I assume you meant to say axle and differential? If you have a leak from the transfer box that will make its mark somewhere around the middle of the vehicle rather than the rear axle area. Either way the answer is No, rear axle leak may be caused by a blocked breather if it has happened twice in the same location (original cause not cured, only a delayed the re-occurrence)

Yes axle and diff.
It seems a bonkers design.
I've blown through the breather and it's clear.
Ok thanks for your time.
