Discovery 1 and RRC transmission help.

Basically my old man use to own a RRC with a v8 gmc Diesel lump in her, due to the RRC being so rotten we took engine out and put it in a discovery 1 (use to be 300tdi). Both vehicles were Manuel and both r380 box’s!
My question is are the transfer boxes different only because when we put it in the disco for gear ratio’s were totally different!

whereas the LR discoverey had the "manually" lockable LT230, completely different unit.
