I know correct way to disconnect battery is ignition on then off then 17seconds to remove terminal. How ever due to car not being run for 4weeks due to being in hospital battery is dead as a dodo. Do I just disconnect to take off and charge or do I need to get some power to it and disconnect proper way?

Can you not just put it on a trickle charge? if it's that flat then I don't think it will matter you will probably have to reset the radio and windows, possibly the e k a and all the rest of the gubbins:eek::D Good luck.hope your feeling better.

Have had it on a solar trickle charger for past 4weeks obviously something wrong. Was just thinking of taking leads off and coupling my battery charger whist left in car . Its at side of house so no problem with power supply. Not worried about resetting have done that several times before.
getting better now. Had total knee replacement and had a few problems first week with blood pressure dropping due to my heart problems(59 over 30 as I came out of theatre) That all seems to be sorted now. Walking with crutches now and enjoying the painkillers:p:p
Couldn't get any photos of the op but have some of the legs after, including full length stockings:rolleyes: for certain peoples who will not be mentioned here if you are interested

I use a maintenance charger bought in Aldi for less than £14 if I'm away for any length of time.

All that for a pair of stockings....

Very nice ones though ;)

Don’t see why you can’t charge it in situ with cables off if it’s not monsoon season.
L322s go funny without power you’ll be fine.

Get well soon
That nice one of my future daughter in law has claimed them
Dry day tomorrow round here so thought cable through kitchen window and under bonnet with charger and just lower bonnet
Many thanks

The battery disconnection method is so the alarm does not arm before battery is disconnected. Disconnecting battery with alarm armed is not a good idea, specially if you have a BBUS sounder fitted.

@Rubberknees hope your recovering well mate. I was advised by Rick the Pick that best charging battery disconnected as it can cause ECU's to warm up or short out, more so on old P38's, however this is with full chargers or jump starters not sure about trickle chargers but I disconnect anyway.

New there was some reason
Put my old booster pack on and got dash to light up, so did the ignition on and disconnected straight away. Hopefully everything should be okay

Everyday improving thanks
Remember reading what Rick said, that's why I wanted to disconnect battery and now have done

Update just been out disconnected charger, coupled battery First crank and the old girl fires up:D:p:D:p:D:p Don't you just love P38s when they run. All windows and sunroof reset. Only problem now have got to wait another 3weeks before I am allowed to drive again, then MOT due end of September. That's another thing I'll worry about nearer the time

Nice one. Do a check online as my MOT got extended due to COVID? Unless yours already has the extension but runs out in sept?

I just miss out on the extension. MOT due Sept as normal. Not too worried guy I use is very fair and knows I keep the car well maintained. He just Mot's and doesn't do repairs so not looking for work as others I have used in the past
