Im selling my 90 as I need to take some cash out of it but I will be getting another one to satisfy my needs, it will be a laner more than anything, wont need to be a crazy off roader as I really dont need it, just a good fun, weekend away type of off roader

So what would a D2 4.0 be like do you think? Wading is the concern although im sure I can waterproof enough to cope with the occasional wading session, rarely is it deeper than a few ft anyway, I'm more concerned on reliabilty, what are the 4.0L like for durability, repair costs e.t.c? Are there many know issues with them? Am I better with a D1 3.9? I would be looking at LPG and its an occasionsl use so MPG isnt too much concern.

My other option is a Shogun SWB :confused::D Couple of reasons why I'm looking at these, they are shorter than a disco, comfier than a 90 (by a long way), extremely well built and reliable (plus I have a mitsi trained 4x4 specialist working for me ;)) plus come with excellent standard spec including all the guards and rear air locker! Oh and they do look cool...

So advise peope... what we reckon on those few thoughts? I could just go get another Disco 300tdi but I have already had one and fancy something different...

I use my D2 V8 for laning and pay and play days and day to day use and I've not had any problems with it related to off roading
They can suffer from cracking blocks but that's just a matter of luck if you get a bad one or not
Ive had it in water up to the bottom of the headlights but not for long its not the engine that's the problem in water it's the water coming in the car the CD player and the ECU for the gearbox are under the seats at floor level ( mines auto)
The only mods Ive done to mine are a 2" lift /steering guard / I fitted a removable tow bar/ and I've got a second set of wheels for off roading
