I want to replace my rear bumper (with lights) to an all steel version (without lights). trouble is when the indicators in the bumper are disconnected the other indicators on the landy flash to fast:mad:. any ideas how i can get over this problem?

This is the same as the effect you get with a blown indicator bulb I suspect, ie. a reduced load causing the flasher relay to speed up, so my suggestion would be switch the relay for one from an earlier car without the bumper lights.

A cheaper alternative to the flasher relay; but why have a resistor heating up behind a panel and burning energy that could be going to the battery?

coz its the same as a light bulb? - or dont a light bulb use power or transfer electrical energy into light and heat energy?

diff flasher relay is best option tho.

thanks all...... i'll try the diff flasher unit idea i think. hopefully one from a earlier tdi200 model should do the trick

Local car spares or Breakers should be able to help. They are usually marked with the number of 21watt lamps they are designed for e.g. 3X21w or 2X21w.
Theres a good chance something from a rover car will do it.
