Yo! Any one got sum thoughts on why my 96 disco has burned up a new (albeit aftermarket) water pump in less then 5k miles? I put it in myself, as well as the recent replacement, and worry that the problem will persist. Perhaps it's the viscous unit on the fan causing an off-center rotation of the fan? Help please

many thanks!

after market ones are renound for early failures mate, get your self an original for the extra money and see how that goes

that's what I was afraid of- but the second replacement I just put in is an aftermarket too! any chance that the fan is the culprit? it looked to be in good shape but seemed to start a wobble after a few hundred miles...

you guys ever pull the fan off the water pump and install an aftermarket electric fan wired to the thermostat?

Hi Jack, are you based in the US of A and do you run a V8 petrol? Most of us over here run diesels and the cost of a replacement pump is peanuts.

Here is a V8 pump you could buy and have shipped:

right on guys - thanks for the help! I'm torn between throwing and new pump and vicious unit on (manufacturer's parts this time!) or rigging up an aftermarket electric fan...

I'm heading from Washington state, USA to Mexico and would like NOT to have a problem in the Mexican desert!!!

Thanks guys! I'm currently en-route from Seattle, Washington USA to Baja, Mexico and don't want any problems in the Mexican desert!!!

I'm torn between putting on a new viscous unit and water pump (manufacture supplied!!!) or trying the radiator mounted electric fan...
