My disco 300 can be a bit slow off the mark but once it is going it goes like jo stink no matter what it is towing. But even doing 85 on the motorway & it reaches a long hill it will always die back to 50 every time nomatter what i try, foot to the floor or changing down gear. Also climbing sharpe hills with power on it goes great but if I let off then accelerate again it will not power up again. The turbo runs clean with no smoking. The turbo boost is definately missing, any ideas where to look please.

Fit a boost gauge first to verify the lack of boost.

I have just been through this and it turned out i had no boost due to all the vanes being blown off the turbo impellor!!!

Even with another turbo and 12psi of boost, i would not call it sprightly but it can hold its own now.

Air filter condition, air inlet pipes to turbo, including intercooler need checking for de-lamination inside the pipes, they're known for collapsing and causing similar issues .. especially if you get some black smoke when you let off and power on again.

As Paul sys
1, check all the turbo hoses
2, clean out the intercooler
3, remove the EGR - not for any particular reason just because...
4, clean as much gunge out of the inlet manifold as you can.
then if these dont help start on
1, change the air filter
2, diesel filter and sedimenter

have fun
