I've managed to get hold of a 300tdi disco transfer box to fit to my 1989 90. It's currently got a 300tdi on an lt77 with the standard transfer box (1.4)

Is there anything I should do to the transfer box before I fit it? I've heard I need to tap 2 holes for my original handbrake to mount on, can I just take measurements from the old box? Also is there anything else I need to buy/use from the disco? My friend that sold it to me gave me some bolts and said don't use the original defender ones as they are too long and hit a cog inside the box

Any help or tips appreciated, cheers, Harry

if you dont have direct hand brake cable you will have to drill and tap 2 x 8mm x1.25 holes for brake cable bracket, defender bolts disco blots are the same but dont put too long a bolt in front holes ,change speedo whilst its out

My 300 transfer box which I'm going to fit to the 90 has the handbrake cable going direct into the drum so no need for altering brackets. I'm just hoping the cable will fit my 90 handbrake lever.

speedo gear in can be prised out of housing and replaced with yours ,the linkages are all the same on transfer boxes except ones fitted to lt85
