Disco rocker cover blowing its nuts off...

Hi all..some help if pos. Disco 300tdi 94
my disco died the other day, all was fine then on a short trip bang? lost power and cluncking noise. on investigation the back Pedestal stud securing the rocker cover had pulled (dethreaded the head) out.
As there were some thread left in the head i refitted it and replaced all valve stem caps.
on re start it sounded sweet but just down the road the same thing happened again???

Would a blocked breather cause this???

A hell of a case of crankcase compression might.....possibly.....just....

lost power, clunking noise and blown off rocker cover...
sounds like your engine compression is getting past the valves, check your timing belt by removing the inspection hatch at the injector pump, rotating the engine a couple of times... it maybe hanging on by a thread!

I'd go along with battenburg but would also suggest, if the belt's OK, taking the head off, I suspect a piston might be past it's sell-by date.
