disco R380 300 tdi gear box

will it fit a defender 300 tdi?i understand the gearsticks in a different place,can it be swapped over from my R380 in my defender? upshot is my gearbox has died and i want to put a disco box in

I believe you can buy adapters now I'm unsure where you get them from but I'm sure somebody knows.

I thought the Bell housing and input shaft were longer on the disco?

no thats the lt77 with the introduction of 300tdi def and disco are the same as is the front prop

Soo... With the kit from Ashcroft's and a new prop for the rear a Disco 380 will replace my lt77??
110 1986 with disco 200 BTW.

no the engine and transmission on a 300tdi sit further forward than a 200tdi hence different tunnel floor plates and seat box front, but the kit means a disco box can have defender gearstick fitted thus making it a defender box

cheers james so i just need to buy that adapter then get a r380 discobox and it will fit

I see, that sucks cos disco boxes are plentiful....

you can fit longer bell housing boxes but it means pushing engine forward , i struggle to find defender lt77s to rebuild
