disco cutting out

i have a 1996 300tdi discovery and over the last two weeks it has cut out while driving.
it shows no sign of problems then all of a sudden the engine cuts out as if the ignition has been switched off.
if i turn off the ignition after it has cut out and then restart it after about 30/40 seconds it starts as normal with no problems.

i am thinking this is an electrical fault that has developed but was wondering if this is a problem that any one here has encounted before ?

im thinking something to do with the fuel cut off solinoid or the alarm system ?
any pointers as to what the problem could be would be appreciated

cheers, it will go with the spider thing, the cuel cut off solinoid has a small black disc thing on top of it with three wires. some one else has said the spider is a common fault and will produce these symptoms so im going with the spider and gonna be looking for a new one next week

If it's between TA163140 and VA534104 it will have the spider. If it does then nip down yer local stealers and get a bypass lead for about £5.

The solenoid is UNDER the fuel pump and towards the back. The thing on top with 3 wires is for the EGR valve.
