Disco alarm and imobiliser problem

Can anyone help just bought a disco tdi 1997 it has a problem with alarm and imob every so often when car is opened with the fob it wont do anything then after a few seconds the alarm sounds the way i am getting round this is taking the negative of the battery and then replacing it this seems to overide the problen then its fine for a bit then bang does it again

Try to run a built in test procedure on it(it's described in the w-shop manual) see what happens........but usually the alarm disfunctions are hard to diagnose without a proper scanner.........By the way are u sure that the fob's battery is in good shape?

As Count Sierrafery above said the first thing is have a good battery in the fob not a 50p one but something like Duracell, also after reconnecting you vehicle battery did you re-synchronize the fob with the alarm ecu by pressing the lock button 4 times.
