Disco 300tdi locking up when breaking

Hi guys I've just bought a disco 300tdi and have a few problems
First of all and which is worrying is the brakes.. on the road it's fine with no problems at all but stones and loose gravel on the road and I get a grinding noise and I can feel it on the pedal
And the locking up of the brakes scares the crap out of me. . It has abs and the light is on untill I get to 5mph and then the light turns off.

Also the rev counter sometimes stops and I get a squeaking noise is that the aux belt need replacing.

Forgot to add. When on the farm track on the way to work there is a knocking noise from the drivers side front wheel. Not sure this has anything to do with the problem.

Rev counter and squeal are the serpentine belt neeeding replaced and a new tensioner.

Brakes need checked over by a professional, and that knocking noise combined with your description of the braking sound related.

Take her to the garage and pucker up butter cup

Anything to do with brakes it has to be a garage job I would end up with a bolt left over if I removed one lol.
