Evening all!

First, a big fat high five to Aviva who sorted my 300 tdi write-off last Friday with speed and no issues at all... even their settlement figure was very fair!

Now then, I have just acquired a '95 disco 300 ES auto and have a few issues:

a) To say it is sluggish pulling away is an understatement... I have seen glaciers with more oomph. It is an auto, but still! Anyone got any ideas? It's fine when it builds up a head of steam.

b) It has aircon (allegedly). When I push the button the little light doesn't come on, and there is an absence of cold air (I appreciate it might need regassing) but I would appreciate a second opinion.

c) Stupid little thing, but the courtesy light doesn't come on when I open my door (all the others are fine) is this an easy fix?

d) For some inexplicable reason the tow electrics cable has been cut just behind the socket. Any help with info as to how to stick a new cable in would be very gratefully received.

That's it for now! Many thanks in advance. FL

300's don't have an AFM...

They aren't exactly spritly to start with... try simple things first... squeeze the top turbo hose and get someone to rev the engine... if the turbo is boosting properly you shouldn't be able to keep it squeezed!

Otherwise try to find out when the diff oils were changed, you'd be surprised the difference fresh oil makes!

Check the fueling, change the filter, clean the sedimenter.

The if all else fails, tune the pump up!!

A/C could be a few things, mine managed to rub through the clutch wires going to the pump, a quick solder and i had nice cool air! Check the fuse (not sure if it runs of the same one as the blower motor??), the light might just be the bulb!

Yes, I think all of the auto 300's have AFM as they are electronic fuel pumps. The manual ones don't as they were mechanical pumps upto about '98. And as norledge said, it's amazing what new oil can do.

First thing, rather than specifics, would be a complete service, see attached ...

Then run it for a while ... then start looking at specific areas .. Turbo hoses, lift pumps, AFM etc etc

No point 'fixing' things if the basic tune of the vehicle is ****e .. ;)
