disco 2 year 2000 v8 conversion

silly question

can you change the v8 in a disco 2 to a td5 or is it not cost effect to this conversion.

I hope this thread gets some attention as I have the same idea.

How much money do you want to spend?

It's possible but a lot of work and expense.

A rough guess at the parts you'll need.............

Engine with all ancillaries, engine mounts, gearbox (or the bellhousing and input shaft from a Td5 box), ECU, engine wiring harness, fuel pump, fuel lines and filter assembly, body wiring will need modifying or a Td5 harness fitted, radiator & hoses, Instrument pack will need reconfiguring, they're the same for V8 and Td5 but the software is different, BCU will need reconfiguring or replacing.

The main problem will be the wiring as they're totally different between V8 and Td5 (V8 ECU is under the dash and Td5 is in the battery box under the bonnet, also the plugs are different) Engine mounts on the chassis may be different but I'm not 100% sure.

Untill you take the plunge, you're not going to be totally sure of the work involved

Gas up your V8 or sell it & buy a dt5 unless you know someone that can buy a break only td5 to get all the parts to convert but break only TD5 Disco's are big money!!!!!!!
