Hi
I wondered if anyone had any pointers to my discos wiper problem. I believe it feels that keeping the windscreen clear is such an important job because it never lets the wipers stop working. You can set them to slow intermittent and they only go over the screen every so often but they never ever stop which the actual switch turned off.

I originally decided that the switch itself might have a problem where the intermittent is always given a feed but swopping the switch hasn't made any difference. So I just take the fuse out on dry days, works for now but clearly I will need to look further one day soon.

My theory is that I have some form of wiring melt somewhere causing this problem. I say that because one of the horn switches has been glued up and on my previous disco some years ago, when the horn button popped on a hot day, the whole front wiring harness melted and I had to rewire it.

Obviously I would prefer it if someone told me it was a much more simple solution but I know that this is a landrover so I am prepared for the worst.

Hi, you should rule out the interior fusebox first cos it's plug and play and good used ones are not very expensive, it must be from the same modell (pre-facelift, facelift or late 2004 facelift) the only thing you have to do is to disconnect the battery, swap the fuseboxes and after the battery reconnection turn ignition to II and let it si 5 minutes

the wiper relays are integral part of the fusebox, soldered into the pcb and the relay might be stuck closed in your case, chasing a wiring issue can be a nightmare so better rule out the usual suspect first ... the interior fusebox is a common failure on D2s due to water ingress so even if it's not that for the wipers a spare within reach good anyway cos it can let the vehicle immobilised

Thanks for that, makes lots of sense and I do have a second car that I can swop bits over from if needed so I will look further.

All good fun.

I have kept it under cover during the rain, granted this hasn't been too much of a problem recently! Wipers and all the other electrics appear to be working fine. My guess is that it must be the sunroof problem causing water to get onto the fuse board and now that its had time to dry out, its fine.

Looks like I will have to learn how to fix the sunroof. Has there ever been a disco with sunroofs that didn't leak?

Yeah there has been, its the one that hasn't left the showroom.
