disco 2 v8 ready for rebuild

hi any body help.
before i rebuild the beast.
turned the engine over on the crankshaft with a socket and rachet.
seemed a little stiff is this normal due to the size of the engine.
turned over on the starter before i took it apart.

is the battery fully charged? The engine will be tight after a rebuild. If i turns over by hand and its smooth to turn if you get me. no notchy areas or when you turn it its tighter in places than others then try a bump start get it running and run it see how you get on Dan
