H All,

My D2 is running rough at tickover, lot of vibrations running through the car

If i raise the revs a wee bit, it all smooths out.

Im wondering if its a dodgy injector, or the copper sealing washers. In my world it always the pricey things though!

Red plug is ok, and i replaced the harness a couple of months ago, that didnt cure it

Any thoughts? Im going to buy a hawkeye, or nanocom soon, would i be better buying that first? ie before i tackle this? I can live with the vibes a week or two longer

thanks

Gordon

IMO deffinately get the diagnostic too first... then you can read some live data and find out the reason.... maybe it's something cheap and simpe though... untill then give a contact spray to the throttle position sensor's plug ...also try with disconnected MAF sensor. If you feel any improvement we'll speak again

by the way that rough idle is the same regardless of the engine temperature?, do you still have the EGR fitted?

Funny that, mines done this about 15 mins ago. I started it up to come home but i had to wait for someone so it sat idle for 2-3 minutes then it started doing what you have mentioned.
So with me thinking it didnt sound right i drove it about 20-30 meters turned round and drove back and it was still the same. So i switched her off and fired her back up and everything was fine.(no vibrations or juddery motions)

It drove back home ok (10 mile) no lack of power or anything. i will keep my eye on it see if it happens again.

but did you replace the injector loom recently like the OP did? cos if not that's what you have to check first as long as it's intermittant behaviour(i mean oil at the ECU red plug)

nope mate havent changed injector loom. could it be a one off thing or will i need replace the injector loom?

if you have oil at the ECU red plug or at the upper plug below the rocker cover replace it asap.... this must be ruled out before you diagnose further

Thanks GUys,

The egr is long gone, the tickover reads approx 600rpm, and whilst its better when shes warmed up, the vibration still there, but not to the same degree.

I have had this for a while, it did seem a very gradual thing though, as opposed to starting all of a sudden

I'll spray the unit that sierafery suggests, and will climb underneath and check all nuts and bolts for tightness too, and report back

thanks again
