Hello all. Hope the weekend is treating you well. My rever light is not working. I’m assuming it’s the switch as my rear lights all work. Now does anyone have any advise as to how to get to the blighter. I can’t raise the thing up to be able to stand under to get at it and on my back I can get an angle to get a spanner on it. Anyone got any tricks out there

Hi. You might be able to reach it from inside if you remove the central console and both lever's cover plate(i'm not sure)... though if you jack up that side with a hi-lift you should be able to replace it

It looks like it’s sealed from above the gearbox so no evident way in from the inside. Not quite like a defender. I’ll look into lifting the one side up.

Hi Louie,
To get it out you'll need a 19mm cranked spanner (sort of a C shape). Once you crack it. it's easy to unscrew by hand. I've had loads of problems with mine. My procedure is to disconnect the wiring plug and bridge the wire to the rear. Turn ign on and check the rev lights work so you can confirm it's the switch. After removing the switch you can then bench test it. I've had 3 go faulty in the last 12 months (All gen LR)
This weekend I've just replaced mine with and old one I took to peices and reapired. If replacing the switch doesn't sort it then it's due to wear on the yoke at the bottom of the gear stick.

Griff

Thank you. I have disconnected it, cleaned the terminals and refitted and it seems to be working again. So I will hold off replacing till it goes again. I will look at my settings. I could do with a lot of help on this Beaty as it’s starting to fall apart . Leaks from places I don’t know, among other things.
