Disco 2 Disco 2 chassis repair

Evening folk, the front "D" rubber mount has detached from the chassis, i have chopped the tie rods, removed the torsion bar, and taken off the non existant, front bar which is bolted to the front bumper alloy crash box , whats it called,?
going to remove the front bumper tomorrow, so that i can weld the chassis better, imagine the part is not available thought id ask, will rebuild if not.

But we've been told not to be cruel to noobs!

Ok so its called an under ride protection bar ? ill see if i can find it on paddock cheers, whatabout the "D" mount, part of chassis no doubht

If you open that link and click on the number on the right hand side that correlates to the part you are looking at, you will get a part number. Try googling that number and your will all manner of suppliers.

Waste of money, not required they all just corrode away. think they were about£100 last time i checked

have a look here , as an exercise go to the main discovery main menu on that page, you will see the routing in a row just above the pictures. click on discovery, then click on axles & suspension / front suspension if you go thru those pages you will find the one below.

We took ours off when we fitted a front towbar, and I think we have a new one in a box at the factory.

Thanks for all the info chaps, being a good welder I will make one tomorrow, I can already see the bit of pipe just waiting for me at work

If all else fails, use a bit of scaffold pole

Got the pipe, gas pipe lighter than scaffold but strong

Could also do it in stainless, but not much point is their, all hidden from view.
